Master Plan

Asakura Robinson, landscape architects and urban planners, will be working closely with Friends of Mandell Park and the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department to implement the master plan. The project is designed in segments so that work can begin as soon as funds are available.

The master plan was developed through a modified charrette (a charrette is a collaborative session in which a group of designers draft a solution to a design problem). Architecture students in the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture were paired with local architects. After a public viewing at the Anya Tish Gallery, the Friends of Mandell Park board of directors chose the design by Asakura Robinson architects, and Keith Chan and Marianne Do, UH students.
